I find that many companies struggle when it comes to strategic planning…don’t like the process or find that it’s not realistic enough or can’t get past the daily routine into the strategic arena…many times they’re right.
Jack Welch is attributed with the comment that if he got off the plane and discovered that he had left their strategic plan on the plane, he wouldn’t be worried because nobody else could implement their plan like GE could.
Welch was great at strategy and great at finding people to execute well.
